Trial Attorney Willie Gary Names New Attorney to Florida –Based Law Practice: Ricky Armand

Stuart, FL – Trial attorney Willie Gary recently announced that Ricky Armand has joined his Florida-based law firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Watson & Gary, P.L.L.C., as an associate attorney specializing in personal injury, wrongful death, products liability and commercial litigation.  Armand will assume his new position immediately and will be based in the law firm’s main office in Stuart, Florida.

Armand is a member of the Florida Bar and has built an exemplary career. Prior to joining the Firm, Armand interned at the United States Attorney’s Office in the Western District of North Carolina.  In this capacity, Armand was responsible for working on various criminal litigation matters, including white-collar crimes. He also worked in the Public Defender’s Office in Fort Pierce, Florida and at a foreclosure defense law firm where he represented homeowners.

Armand received his B.A. from The University of Central Florida in Orlando and his law degree from Vermont Law School in South Royalton, Vermont. He is a member of the National Bar Association and the Martin County Bar Association.

Gary and Watson Document the Opening and Closing Statements that Resulted in a $23.6 Billion Dollar Verdict against Big Tobacco as a Result of Client’s Smoking Related Death

(Fort Lauderdale, FL)  – Trial attorney Willie E. Gary along with his law partner Donald Watson recently co-presented during the Broward County Justice Association’s monthly meeting at Morton’s Steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Gary and Watson addressed a packed audience of over 100 lawyers, judges, paralegals and law students from the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.  The duo gave an in-depth presentation on the recent landmark verdict in which they were awarded $16.8 million dollars in compensatory damages and $23.6 billion dollars in punitive damages against RJ Reynolds, as a result of their client’s smoking-related death.

Donald Watson examined the various components of litigation as well as trial techniques and tactics.  Watson talked about the trial team’s strategy during jury selection and how it likely impacted the verdict.  Watson’s remarks continued with a compelling presentation on the characteristics of a strong opening statements and pitfalls that should be avoided.

Gary closed the program and discussed key points in delivering an excellent closing argument, including the use of visual aids.  The crowd was in awe as Gary recited a ten-minute passage of the actual closing argument he delivered in the case against RJ Reynolds, which rendered a $23.6 billion dollar jury award.

Trial Attorney Willie E. Gary Honored with the Corporate Legal Award at Greenhope Services for Women, Inc. 40th Anniversary and Graduation Gala

Greenhope Applauds Gary for his Legal and Philanthropic Contributions

(New York, NY)  – Trial attorney Willie E. Gary was recently honored by Greenhope Services for Women, Inc. during its 40th Anniversary and Graduation Gala.  This highly anticipated event was held at the New York Academy of Medicine in New York City and attracted hundreds of community leaders, elected officials and supporters of Greenhope.

During the program, Gary was recognized for his legal accomplishments and humanitarian efforts.  On behalf of Grennhope and the Board of Directors, Gary was presented with the Greenhope Corporate and Legal Award.  Other honorees included Stephanie Burns of Turner Construction Company; Wendy Oxenhorn of the Jazz Foundation of America; and Cheryl Wilkins of Columbia University’s Center for Justice.

During his remarks, Gary encouraged audience members to accept the task of supporting Greenhope Services for Women, Inc. by not only making a financial contribution, but by also lending their time and talents. “It is imperative that we reach back and help these women by providing them with resources and opportunities that will assist them during their integration back into society,” commented Gary.  “It is an honor to stand before you today as we shed light on this worthy cause and attempt to provide life-changing services to women who deserve a second chance,” continued Gary.

Greenhope endeavors to provide quality services to minority women who are working to reclaim their lives and reunite with their families after being incarcerated.  Located in East Harlem, Greenhope’s commitment to providing quality services to predominantly poor African American and Latina ex-offenders has made it a leader in working with women to address the problems that lead to a life of drugs and crime.  To date, Greenhope has helped over 4000 women.

Gary is well-known for his philanthropic endeavors. In 1994, he and his wife, Dr. Gloria Gary, founded the Gary Foundation, which provides college scholarships to at-risk students who wish to attend college. The Gary’s have pledged millions of dollars to help Historically Black Colleges and Universities, including $10 million to their alma mater, Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
