The Law Firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Watson and Gary, P.L. Presents Panel Discussion with World-Renown Litigators during Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association Quarterly Meeting

Firm Hosts Premier Event for Florida Attorneys

Stuart, Florida – The Stuart, Florida-based law firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Watson and Gary, P.L. recently hosted the quarterly meeting for the members of the Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association.  As part of the weekend’s festivities, partners Willie Gary and Lorenzo Williams presented a panel discussion entitled: “Trial Masters: How to Win Multi-Million Dollar Verdicts,” with some of the nation’s most talented and well-known litigators.

“Trial Masters: How to Win Multi-Million Dollar Verdicts,” was moderated by Lorenzo Williams and examined the various components of litigation as well as trial techniques and tactics.  Chris Searcy, President and CEO of the West Palm Beach, Florida-based law firm of Searcy, Denney, Scarola, Barnhart and Shipley, P.A., gave a stellar presentation on jury selection.  The crowd stood on their feet with applause as H.T. Smith of the Miami-based law firm of H.T. Smith, P.A., gave a compelling presentation on the hallmarks and pitfalls of opening statements.

Gary closed the program and discussed key points in delivering an excellent closing argument, including the use of visual aids.  The crowd was in awe as Gary recited a ten-minute passage of the actual closing argument he delivered in the O’Keefe v. Loewen Group, Inc. case – which rendered a half-billion dollar jury award.

Following the presentation, Gary and the other panelists took time to meet and greet fellow attorneys and colleagues in attendance.  Audience members were provided with a CD copy of the program for future reference.

Later in the evening, Willie Gary and his wife, Gloria hosted a dinner party at their home overlooking the St. Lucie River.  Over 500 guests from around the state enjoyed the evening as they feasted on a gourmet-BBQ dinner and sipped refreshing lemonade, to beat the heat.  As the evening progressed, the DJ cranked up the music and the crowd danced the night away.  The weekend was an overwhelming success.

Gary and his legal team are known for taking on some of the nation’s most powerful corporate giants.  In 1995, a jury awarded Gary and his legal team a record-breaking, half-billion dollars against one of the world’s largest funeral chains, The Loewen Group. In addition, Gary is noted for winning a $240 million jury verdict in Orange County against the Walt Disney Corporation for his clients who alleged that Disney stole their idea for a sports theme park. In 2001, a jury awarded Gary a $139.6 million verdict for the Maris Distributing Company against Anheuser Busch.
